Jenny from the Bay has a blast

Hello, my name is Jenny and I’ve been doing a weeks work experience at allmedia from the 27th of February, to the second of March, and i have really enjoyed myself from start to finish. As a sixth form media student, I gave myself a task that related to what I was currently doing in school and decided to create a music magazine. I really enjoyed creating my magazine and it allowed me to play around with programmes such as InDesign and Photoshop which helped me to develop my computer skills. As well as this, it furthered my understanding of how the media industry works in regards to advertising and graphic design.

I decided to come here for my work experience as I’m very interested in advertising and graphic design and would like to consider it as a potential job after sixth form/university and after being at allmedia this week I feel even more enthusiastic about choosing this as a career. The things I enjoyed most about the week was the really positive and relaxed environment in the workplace created by all the people working here at allmedia and how everyone seemed to work harmoniously to get all the jobs done to the highest of standards. On the floor where I was working on my magazine, I was working with four lads who all made me feel very welcome and helped me out with any problems or enquiries i had, either about the business or my work. First there is Mark who I was working with most through the week, he’s  a proper geordie lad with a crackin’ smile and really helped me with the imaginative and creative side of my magazine ensuring it looked fun but proffesional.  Then there is Colin who is the quiet, intelligent one who doesn’t really speak much but when he does, its either a clever comment, or he’s asking anyone if they want a cuppa’. After that, is Ryan, is the cool young one who wears three quarter length shorts all the time and plays really good music. Last but not least there is Malcom who’s the sweet one but for some reason gets picked on by all the other lads. Then there’s the three men downstairs, Steve, Phil and Jeff (the boss), these are the brains behind the corporation. Finally, there’s the two women - Wendy and Linda, who keep all the boys in check.

Overall, I found it a really positive experience that was very beneficial, and I would recommend anyone interested in this line of work to come here for a work placement/work experience.
