Why I Loved 2011 - Part 1: Colin, web developer

Author: Colin Oakley Date: Tue 3 January 2012, 13:02:49

I think 2011 was a pretty good year and I figured I'd sum up a couple of highlights of the year. As a web developer it is great to meet so many different people in the same industry and talk about what we do.

DIBI 2011

DIBI was such a good conference with some really great speakers. All the talks I caught where pretty inspiring in different ways. My main highlights from DIBI was Brain Suda's talk on 'Visualising Data' (link) and Jared Spools 'The Unintuitive Nature of Creating Intuitive Designs?' (link)

DIBI 2012 is now on sale at http://www.dibiconference.com/

PHPNE

Newcastle has some amazing user groups. PHPNE had some amazing talks this year. November saw David Haywood Smith give an excellent talk on his web app framework RAT (link). While October gave Phil Sturgeon the chance to talk about Fuel PHP (link).

You can find more about up and coming events at http://phpne.org.uk/
